Musicians of all ages and skill levels came together for an intensive day of music April 27, 2024. As we talked with young musicians, we discovered they held wisdom beyond their years.The Saint Paul Conservatory of Music organized the day of spirited collaboration. Wild Carrot Productions produced this short video in efforts to capture the day and show the work behind the scenes.

A rare inside view of the classrooms at Prodeo Academy
Prodeo Academy said they wanted the video to be voiced by the graduating 8th grade scholars. Spending time inside the classrooms gathering footage of the teachers and students in action was a privilege I'll not forget.
Using video to teach geometric design
Contracted by Professional Engineering Services, I worked in the role of producer/director/videographer and editor for MnDOT's Geometric Design Training Video Series, a comprehensive eLearning program consisting of 28 total modules. A massive project, our team likened it to producing a TV series. Collaborative partners: SRF Consulting and Fredrickson Learning.

Teaching groundwater basics
In a series of four videos, Extension Educator Anne Nelson walks viewers through the basics of groundwater, starting by answering the question, what is a confined aquifer? Wild Carrot Productions collaborated with Nelson to create an approachable narrative. Animation and motion graphics were created by WOMO Studios. The day we shot footage, we needed to wait for the snow flurries to stop!
Sparking the transformative power of music with a scholarship
Growing up in Brazil, Cléa Galhano shares that her parents struggled to be able to pay for her piano lessons as a child. Through perseverance, practice and the help of scholarships, she advanced to become a world-class recorder musician and highly-skilled teacher. As she retires from her Executive Artistic Director post, her scholarship fund at The Saint Paul Conservatory of Music will ignite possibilities for young musicians for years to come. Wild Carrot Productions worked with Galhano to help visualize her story with photos and illustrations, but really, the narrative it supported best simply with her music.

Collaborating with decision makers to make a difference in the world of natural resource management takes skill and practice. Volunteer Dana Boyle shares stories of finding like-minded people and forming the Tamarack Nature Preserve Stewards. Forestry Extension Educator Angela Gupta shares ideas about framing issues with decision makers so it's a win win situation, and what the research indicates about making a positive impact as a volunteer.
Windbreaks for Poultry Operations
All hail the many benefits of trees! Windbreaks help poultry producers save energy costs, improve neighbor relations by beautifying the the aesthetics of their operation, help conserve soil and store carbon. This video helps poultry producers find resources and better understand the science of wind. Produced by the University of Minnesota Extension poultry and agroforestry team. 2019 Gold Award Winner, Association of Natural Resource Professionals
University of Minnesota Extension Educators Andrea Lorek Strauss and Angela Gupta have traveled the state conducting workshops to train people how to successfully lead volunteers in invasive species removal events. In support of their efforts, we created two videos that offer new leaders guidance for collaborating with natural resource professionals and tips for recruiting and keeping engaged volunteers. The set of videos were recently granted the prestigious Gold Award by the Association of Natural Resources Professionals.

University of Minnesota Recreation and Wellness employs over 800 students and provides a welcoming community for students and staff. The students I met while working on the video shared stories of RecWell career growth and the strong friendships and support of the center's community. Their testimony is genuine and unscripted.
Dragonfly short designed for social media
As a Minnesota Master Naturalist, I volunteer to help create short educational videos to be used on the Minnesota Dragonfly Society Facebook page. Research Biologist Ami Thompson wrote the copy and together we designed what we call our first Tiny Video. Many people watch short videos on Facebook with the volume down, so we designed the video to use graphics instead of voice over narration to tell the story of dragonfly nymphs and migrating adults. I layered the audio track with natural sounds and an ethereal instrumental track to round out the viewing experience.
